This series explores the beauty of the everyday ground that we walk on to get us to other places. When I was younger, my mom would tell me to keep my head up and not look towards the ground, so I wouldn’t run into something or someone. Even to this day though, my gaze when walking tends to wander to the ground. I am always finding something new and unique on my routine walks.

The perspective of the series focuses more on how the feet would view the world, rather than just the way we normally look down on the ground. The nuances that I would notice on routine walks would become emphasized, and sometimes even personified when viewing it from this new angle. Photos in this series were taken from both streets that I walk routinely in D.C., and from my hometown on the road near my house that I have walked and run most of my life.

All photos in this series are taken with an SLR camera and developed in a dark room.
